Saudi Arab arranged organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC) special meeting on Kashmir, in Pakistan
For the first time, OIC
(organization of Islamic cooperation) will have a special ministerial meeting
on the Kashmir issue. Recently Saudi Arabia plans to arrange a meeting of the foreign
minister the organization of Islamic cooperation on Kashmir. This meeting will
be held in April 2020 in Islamabad while the dates are not confirmed.
Recently the foreign
minister of Saudi Arab Prince Faisal bin Al-Saud visited Pakistan and there he
met his counterpart Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. According
to statement on the meeting by the foreign minister office of Pakistan, shah
Mehmood Qureshi raised the issue of article 370 abrogation in Jammu and Kashmir,
The citizenship amendment act and the systematic targeting of Muslim minorities
in India.
Why Saudi fulfilled the demand of Pakistan?
Recently Saudi Arabia
influenced Pakistan not to attend the Kuala Lumpur summit. This was hosted by Malaysia. After came from Saudi Arabia the prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has canceled
his visit to Kuala Lumpur. Riyadh is not happy with this summit as it is a
platform that could potentially challenge the OIC organization of Islamic
cooperation, which is led by Saudi Arabia.

As Malaysia and turkey fully support Pakistan in the United Nation general assembly
about the Kashmir issue that’s why Pakistan, turkey, and Malaysia decided to
hold a summit to discuss issues that the Muslim world faces globally. Pakistan pm
offered his full support for this summit and announced that he would attend the
summit. In this summit, Pakistan got a chance to discuss the Kashmir issue. The
sentiment in Pakistan is that OIC has done virtually nothing to call out India
or any support to Pakistan in this regard. The Malaysian Prime Minister
Mahathir Mohamad refused to invite Saudi Arab and its close alleys. The prime
minister primarily invited Iran, Turkey, Qatar, and Pakistan. The success of
such an event can challenge Saudi’s diplomatic and political outreach in the Muslim
world. So Saudi manages to convince the Prime Minister Imran khan to not to
attend the summit. And in exchange for this fever Pakistan will hold an OIC meet
on Kashmir issue.
What is OIC (organization of Islamic cooperation)
The organization of Islamic cooperation is an international organization
founded in 1969.it is the 2nd largest inter-governmental
organization after the united nation.
It has 57 members who are the collective voice of the Muslim world. The
purpose of this organization is to safeguard and protect the interest of the Muslim
world. The headquarters’ of the OIC organization of Islamic cooperation is in Riyadh.

The OIC has a secretary-general
who is the chief administrative officer of the organization? The secretary-general is elected by the council of foreign minister for a period of 5 years.
The serving secretary-general is DR. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen who belongs
to Saudi Arabia. Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hold a summit every three years at which
the organizing state discusses the way to achieve the OIC’s objectives and make
different policy. Its official languages are English Arabic and French.
The general secretariat of OIC has
expressed concern over the citizenship amendment act and the Babri masjid case. And
said that, they following the developments affecting the Muslim minority in India.
